This year has been a whirlwind, to say the least, as I have watched my sweet daughter turn into a beautifully strong and independent woman. Our time spent together now is more of a genuine friendship than that of a mother and a child. She called me recently to share that she had been focusing on the Book of Proverbs in her Bible study group and I felt I had to commemorate this time with her.
I could not stop thinking of our conversation, and about how Proverbs 31:25 speaks to all of us as women. I knew I had to create a cross stitch design to express this powerful message.
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.” ~Proverbs 31:25-26
“Strength and Dignity” was a fulfilling design to create as it captures the qualities of the one I love the most. My daughter is strong! She does carry herself with dignity! She can laugh without fear of the future! How powerful is that?
The design details are just as exquisite as the verse. I wanted to design the subtle beauty that surrounds us. The soft pink combined with the strong verse personifies the woman described in Proverbs 31:25. I chose to design pink dogwoods (some say they look like cherry blossoms – you decide for yourself) blowing in the wind. Dogwoods have always been my favorite, and I feel so revived when I see them blooming in April. They are a sign of rebirth, resurrection and purity.
As Proverbs 31:25 says, this is a woman who is strong and dignified and has so much peace that she can laugh at the future without worry or fear. How beautiful and amazing does she sound?!
I hope you, my Stitchy Friend, find peace and comfort for the days to come as you stitch this for yourself and the women in your life.
Happy Stitching,
Annie

I love this one. My friend Lauren Crews wrote a Proverbs 31 Bible Study. The Strength of a Women – Why You Are Proverbs 31. It was such a great study. I’m gonna stitch this just for the memory that study meant for me also. I pray both my daughters will always be mindful of the women God meant them to be.

What a beautiful tribute to your daughter, I completely agree with you seeing your child grow into a strong young woman is so amazing. Just for the feeling when you see this in your first granddaughter….words can not express how wonderful this feels. I have two daughters and three granddaughters. I am blessed to survive my daughters teenage years and so proud of the hard working, devoted wives and mothers they each have become.
