Clarissa’s Garden Sampler is another one of my reimagined samplers. This sampler is such a joy to stitch and is the perfect size for a weekend project.
This antique sampler was stitched by a girl named Clarissa Burnett. What caught my attention to this sampler was the beautiful cursive font. These letters were perfectly stitched! Just look at Clarissa’s attention to detail and her lovely color choices. When I began to reproduce Clarissa Burnett, I fully intended for this to be an exact reproduction. However, when I started charting the lower half, the portion with the large vase and flowers, I realized there was so much more we could envision about this work of art. I decided this would be a reimagined sampler.
I chose to keep Clarissa’s letters as she stitched them exactly, but to redesign the lower portion. I was intrigued by Clarissa’s ducks and decided they earned a prominent place in this reimagined design.
The soft color palette of pinks, greens, creams and mauves are so elegant. As with all of my reimagined samplers, I have provided a detailed letter with this pattern.
