This miniature sampler found its way to me while shopping at an antique show. The owner was very well versed in antique samplers but sadly, did not have any information about Caroline Carter.Â
Although I do not have any history of Caroline, I can see that she was a skilled needleworker. She stitched this sweet sampler in silk threads. Her color palette is quite sophisticated, leading me to believe that this was not her first time creating a sampler. I am always drawn to miniature samplers, but what really caught my attention was her creative design of the two trees in the center. Her use of two shades of green and the on-point diamond shape are very intriguing.
I chose to reproduce this sampler just as Caroline stitched it. This design is the perfect size to fill a small space or display on a bookshelf.
